Intro

I’m still alive and here on this glorious day. This blog entry will probably be shorter than the last, as I have far less to show of my own project. Here goes nothing…

I’m proud to announce that my good friend and talented game developer, Milan, has finally released the demo for his neon RPG, Dome. There’s a little rumor that I did some of the music for this project. I guess you’ll just have to check it out on Steam through this link to see if it’s true… Any feedback for the game would be appreciated. If you’re looking for a pretty laid back experience with a deeper narrative, then this might be the game for you.

…Making the GUI’s and Menus

This month has unfortunately been pretty slow as far as actual gameplay progress on Flesh Harvest goes. I’m still building a lot of the mechanics and the systems needed for the game. I finished doing almost all the main menus, and got halfway done with the GUI. There’s a secondary menu I still need to program…

I had an idea of the first menu being used for important commands, while the second menu, lets you fast change between weapons and characters. You can play as any of the monsters you tame on the overworld to use their abilities… Making a game takes a long time, I’m just getting the difficult stuff out of the way so that I won’t have to go back later and re-do everything to fit newly added systems.

Minor Visuals

I’ve been doing a lot of the minor visual related tasks, such as how fonts are processed, and the game’s resolution settings. I’ve decided that when the game goes full-screen, it gets a border, akin to those old Super Gameboy games that used one to fit the screen’s resolution. I sadly, can’t seem to get the game to not look a little blurry when entering full-screen…

…I always loved these borders, they’re a lot more visually interesting than just black bars

I’ve tried some pixel perfect algorithms, but they don’t look good due to the game using anti-aliased fonts, along with the precise pixel perfect ones. However, it’s a minor hiccup, it looks passable due to the game containing pixel art as well as more realistic assets.

…Patreon And Discord announcement

After some advice from friends, I’ve decided to finally open a public Discord server related to my works. You can also post your own projects, I’ll be sure to check them out and give you a shout out in following blogs if you’d like me to.

I’ve set up a Patreon so that you can throw your hard earned Shekels at me. If you donate, or buy anything of mine, I will include your username, or any name you desire in the credits of any following projects I create. On the Patreon, certain tiers will give you one piece of custom hand drawn art work, of anything you’d like. In reason of course… The maximum tier on Patreon will give you access to prototype builds of my most recent games.
